Barbados Meets IMF Targets, Gets Further Aid

Barbados has received a passing grade from the International Monetary Fund after the 7th and final review of the Extended Fund Facility.

This was announced by the IMF’s Mission Chief for Barbados, Bert Van Selm, at a media briefing at Ilaro Court this morning.

Barbados having met its targets is to get an additional 23 million U.S dollars in assistance.

Mr. Van Selm notes the Barbados economy has started to rebound after the significant impact of the covid-19 pandemic.

Meantime, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stressed the importance of Barbados having started a debt restructuring program prior to the covid-19 pandemic.
