Opening Gala scores big on return to Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park in the City was transformed yesterday for the Ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes, marking a return after eight years.

However, the space is set for more major transformation as a center of culture and a home for Barbadian artists and artistes according to Minister in the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight.

While delivering the key address, Dr. Munro-Knight outlined Government’s plans.

Several Crop Over Stalwarts were recognized last evening while the best workers from the 2025 Crop Season were also honored.

Adrian Sealy, Ermina Roach, Jeffrey Quimby and Ann Carol each received over four thousand dollars in cash and prizes for their stellar work this year.

Chairman at the National Cultural Foundation, Dr. Jasmine Babb officially declared the festival open and spoke to the significance of delivering the last canes.
