COVID 19 UPDATE: Seven deaths in two days, one fully vaccinated

Health authorities report a total of seven covid-19 deaths over the past two days – five yesterday and two more so far today including Barbados’ first fully-vaccinated covid fatality.

This brings the total number of covid fatalities here to 76.

In addition to two deaths previously announced for yesterday, three more fatalities were recorded, one being a 58-year-old man, who died at the Accident and Emergency Department.  He was unvaccinated.

The other two, a 55-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, were both patients at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.  They had co-morbidities and were unvaccinated.

Another two people died this morning, a 47-year-old man, who had co-morbidities and was unvaccinated, and a 67-year-old woman. She also had co-morbidities and was fully vaccinated.

 

Meantime, President of the Muslim Association of Barbados Dr. Abdul Mohamed confirmed to Starcom Network News that they have lost a member of the community and that several others are ill and under medical care in the isolation facilities.

He says this all highlights the seriousness of the situation and the need for the public to heed the warnings.

Dr. Mohammed believes the outbreak among his community is a reality check for everyone.
