Franklyn: Workers in quarantine should be paid

Opposition Senator Caswell Franklyn has chided Government for not putting measures in place to protect workers whose employers refuse to pay them while they are in quarantine due to covid-19 exposure.

Senator Franklyn who is also the General Secretary of the Unity Workers Union said there is no law which mandates employers to pay workers when they are forced to quarantine.

He said if government  cared about the working-class it would make provisions for employees to be paid during this period.

However, Executive Director of the Barbados Employers Confederation Sheena Mayers-Granville stressed that provisions are in place for these employees.
