Communications and Marketing Officer with the Alliance Owners of Public Transport, Mark Haynes, has expressed concern about violent attacks on people working in the public transport sector.
This comes after a driver was attacked and stabbed while on duty yesterday evening.
Mr. Haynes says though he understands Government’s implementation of wearing face masks, he believes that each commuter should make themselves visible to drivers before entry.
Mr. Haynes is calling for meaningful talks between the police, members of the transport sector, and major stakeholders for urgent action to be taken to address violence against workers in the sector.
Meantime, some drivers told Starcom Network News that the wearing of face masks has posed security problems for them and should be rectified as soon as possible.
