Kieron Pollard named West Indies ODI, T20I captain

In another reshuffle in West Indies cricket, Cricket West Indies president Ricky Skerritt has announced Kieron Pollard as the new one day international and T20 international captain.

Mr. Skerritt made the announcement in Trinidad this morning after the conclusion of a quarterly board meeting in Tobago. He said the board was following the “best possible pratices for best possible outcomes”.

Sitting next to Pollard at the news conference Mr. Skerrit said he called Jason Holder yesterday morning and they spoke.

The Cricket West Indies President said Holder is an important force and is still going to be their red-ball captain. He added that Holder will now compete for a place in Pollard’s team and use this as an opportunity to become a better cricketer. He added – quote- Pollard is the right man at the right time to take our white-ball teams forward.”

Pollard’s first assignment as captain will be against Afghanistan in November in India where they will play three T20Is and three ODIs before a one-off Test.
