Band Leaders gearing up for Grand Kadooment

August 2, 2019

Kadooment bands are looking forward to a good Grand Kadooment and praying for good weather against the background of a system developing in the eastern Atlantic that could bring some rain early next week.

Meantime, some band leaders are reporting steady numbers for this year’s Grand Kadooment.

Band leader of Fifth Element Kevin Small says registration was slow in the beginning but has now picked up for Monday’s climax.

General Manager of the Aura Experience, Chris Hassell, says the band has had yet another successful year and has sold out all of its sections.

President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders and Band Leaders Chetwn Stewart reports that the Kadooment start points are agreed with the bands and he’s hoping for the best weather-wise.

He says the response to the bands from patrons has varied.

Mr. Stewart added that he’s very optimistic for Crop Over next year when government stages Vision 2020.
