The 11-plus examination set for tomorrow is one of the most important days on the calendar for thousands of primary school students and their parents.
Since 1959 when the exam was first introduced to Barbados, it has served as the tool of transfer from primary to secondary school where Math, English and Composition are the main subjects under the microscope.
2024 saw both the top boy and girl coming from Private Schools with Finn Graham of St. Winnifred’s and Aryanna Bascombe of Providence Elementary scoring identical scores across the exam.
They each scored 99 in Mathematics and 96 in English with an ‘A’ in Composition. The overall converted mark was 246.81.
In this edition of Newsmakers, we introduce you to Principal of Providence Elementary, Kiran Mahtani.
