Cabinet has approved the appointment of the first Board of Directors of the island’s newly established business facilitation agency, Business Barbados.
A government statement says this marks a pivotal step in its mission to modernise and streamline business operations in Barbados.
The Board’s Chair is Connie Smith, a former Partner of Ernst and Young Caribbean and current Managing Director of the global provider of business services, Vistra Barbados.
Ms. Smith has served as President of the Association for Global Business, BIBA, is a Chartered Governance Professional and a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute of the UK and Ireland. She has also served as Chair of BIBA’s Service Provider and Business Facilitation Committee and on the Boards of Invest Barbados and the Barbados Private Sector Association.
The Board comprises, Anthony Ali, the Deputy Chair, Kashka Mottley, Meryl Stoute, Paul Inniss, Joanna Austin, Dr. Lynette Holder, Keith Miller and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Business, Kevin Hunte.
Speaking on the appointment, the Chair Connie Smith emphasised the Board’s commitment to meaningful transformation.
