A 74-year-old man was freed on two counts of rape and aggravated burglary on Wednesday, January 29th, in the #5 Supreme Court, but he is threatening to sue the State for malicious prosecution.
Carlton Moore showed elation when Justice Pamela Beckles told him he was “free to go” after being on remand at DODDS prison for three and a half years, when the verdict came back from the 9-member jury made up of six women and three men.
However, Moore told Starcom Network that he has suffered much pain and anxiety while on remand, and he has alleged that it has made his diabetic condition worse.
His attorney’s Kings Counsel, Michael Lashley, in association with Shequilla Woodley and Suthany Hall have stated their intention to pursue damages for their client, who has been on remand since April 2021.
His niece, who has asked not to be named, said she has been praying since the very first day he was arrested but always knew he was innocent.
