Public service vehicle owners are to be held more accountable for the actions of their drivers under strict new regulations for the sector, a revised version of which was to be reviewed by cabinet today.
The paper went before the cabinet as both Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Transport Minister Santia Bradshaw again promised to bring order to the sector.
They gave that assurance to the audience at last evening’s Christ Church Speaks public town hall meeting after Christ Church resident David Fenty complained about the driving habits of route taxi and mini-bus operators and urged that steps be taken to deal with it.
He believes the worst offenders should be banned.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Works, Santia Bradshaw, pointed out that new PSV regulations have been drafted and consultations have been taking place with stakeholders after which some revisions were made.
She said the regulations include provisions to make the owners more accountable.
Miss Bradshaw gave the assurance that stricter regulations are coming.
Prime Minister Mottley also emphasized government’s determination to address the matter.
