Dominican police have fired teargas after protests erupted as truckers reportedly complain of being shut out of opportunities to get work through Chinese domination of construction projects.
From early this morning a number of truckers parked their vehicles across a major highway blocking access to the capital Roseau.
A Barbadian who has been living temporarily in Dominica, and who asked us to use her first name Gail, contacted Starcom Network News by telephone to speak of her ordeal as the teargas drifted into her home.
