This country’s main automobile dealers believe it’s time for tighter regulation of the automotive sector as they complain about what they see as unfair competition from importers of used vehicles.

Chairman of the Barbados Automobile Dealers Association, Mark Hamilton, the General Manager of Platinum Motors, tells Starcom Network News that a flood of second-hand imports continues to come into the country.

This is affecting the sales of the established new car dealerships.

Mr. Hamilton doesn’t believe there is a level playing field.
