Three people have been killed in a mass shooting at a bar in Nelson Street in Bridgetown.
The police say the incident happened about five minutes to two this morning at the Majestic Bar.
Starcom Network News understands the bar was filled with patrons when three masked men entered the establishment and opened fire on the crowd.
Three people were confirmed dead at the scene.
Six other people were also shot and were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
One of those six is said to be in critical condition, and the prognosis is grim.
Two men were treated at the scene for what were said to be less severe injuries.
The police were trying to confirm the identities of the deceased.
In a statement on the incident, Barbados’ worst mass shooting, Commissioner of Police, Richard Boyce, said the police are determined to have the culprits brought to justice for what he termed this heinous attack on people who were violently ambushed while enjoying a night out.
He added that the police are in the early stages of dealing with this matter and are soliciting the assistance of any member of the public who may have any information that may help with their intent to arrest those responsible for this shooting.
