Relatives urge fugitive to surrender

The relatives of a teenaged fugitive have appealed for the murder suspect to turn himself in to the police.

Both the mother and another close relative, who asked not to be identified, are urging 19 year old Rashad Kangal to surrender.

The teenaged shooting suspect escaped from the police on Sunday after he was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

A police statement says that while at the A and E the young man, who lived at Silver Sands, Christ Church, asked to use the bathroom and then escaped through a window.

Starcom Network News understands that Kangal was being questioned at a police station before being taken to the QEH.

His mother Deborah Kangal tells Starcom Network News the whole ordeal has taken a toll on her.

She tearfully appealed for her son to turn himself in.

Meantime, another family member joined in the plea for the wanted man to turn himself in.

The family member told Starcom Network News that Rashad was being questioned in relation to several matters including murder and was being held at the Boarded Hall Police Station.

He also complained that the family only learnt about his escape from the media and was never contacted by the police.

The family member fears that the escapee will not be taken alive and stressed that the family does not know his current whereabouts.
