Barbados is championing a new global initiative that Prime Minister Mia Mottley expects will deliver a new deal for the world’s small island development states over the next 18 months.
The plan called Bridgetown 3.0 was launched today at the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS-4) which is underway in St John’s, Antigua.
Among other things, the plan aims to secure for vulnerable states cheaper funding on easier terms.
Miss Mottley also wants elimination of the surcharges required to be paid for funding from the International Monetary Fund.
