“When Will All The Roads Be Fixed?”, Asks Independent Senator

An Independent Senator wants government to provide an overall update about when the majority of the badly deteriorated roads across the country will be fixed and how the work will be financed.

Attorney at law Kevin Boyce was speaking as the Senate debated amendments to the road traffic act.

Senator Boyce notes the plan to start repairs to highway seven along the south coast, but wonders when repairs to other major roads will commence.

He points out that motorists have been complaining bitterly on social media.

Senator Boyce is also concerned about what he sees as an increase in lawlessness on this country’s roads.

Leader of government business in the Senate, Lisa Cummins, while not responding to the query about road repairs, indicated that she shares Senator Boyce’s concerns about behavior on the roads.

Senator Cummins sees a need for a comprehensive overhaul of the road traffic laws.
