Channell supermarket located in Black Rock, St. Michael was robbed this afternoon.

Police said the incident occurred about 3:15.

A man armed with a knife entered the establishment and stole an undisclosed sum of money from a cashier as she opened her cash register.

A security guard was injured as he intervened to stop the robber who ran away.

The injured security guard was treated by two medical doctors who visited the scene. He was later transported to the hospital for medical attention.

His injuries were listed as not serious.
