Barbados gets $200 Million World Bank Loan

Barbados is getting a two hundred million dollar loan from the World Bank.

The Bank has announced in a news release that it approved yesterday one hundred million US dollars in financing to support Barbados’ low carbon economic development and resilience to climate change.

The release quotes Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley as saying that the loan allows Barbados to advance its efforts to achieve climate resilience, including continuing the shift to clean energy.

She added that the loan ultimately allows the government to better shield Barbadians from the worst excesses of the climate crisis while creating opportunities for green and blue jobs and investment as the country adapts to its new reality.
