Barbados has recorded its first road fatality for the year, a UK visitor who died after being struck by a car.
The police say the collision occurred about 11:20 pm last night along Weston, St. James.
It involved the visitor, who was a pedestrian, and a motor car owned and driven by a 31-year-old man of little Bay, St. Lucy.
The pedestrian died on the spot.
He was identified as 50 year old Malachy Raymond Weedon, a British citizen who was staying at Doughlin Road, Weston, St. James.
The police say the car was traveling along the road in a northerly direction towards Speightstown and on reaching the area of John Moore bar was involved in a collision with the pedestrian.
