Hoteliers Predict a Strong Cruise ship and land-based Winter Season

Barbados’ hoteliers expect a strong winter cruise ship season and also report promising bookings for land-based tourism in coming months after what they say was a disappointing summer.

This assessment was provided by Chairman of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association Rene Coppin during a media briefing this morning.

She says home porting business has not been as strong as previous seasons and has affected the volume of transit calls to Barbados.

Meantime, a super luxury cruise ship is today making her  inaugural trip to Barbados providing an economic boost.

Ms. Coppins says this summer was a difficult for the tourism sector and she has concerns about summer next year.

But bookings for the winter season ahead are good.
