Medical Coordinator of the Barbados Cancer Society Breast Screening Programme, Dr. Shirley Jhagroo is pleased with the number of people coming forward now to be screened for breast cancer.
Close to 200 new breast cancer cases in 2020 were recorded and over one hundred deaths. Doctor Jhagroo’s comments came as thousands of people attended the CIBC Walk for the Cure over the weekend. She said this heightened awareness has forced people to get screened earlier and reduced the number of people coming forward with stage 4 cancer.
