Barbadian consumers can expect to pay more for local eggs and chicken from as early as next week.

Managing Director of Star Chick Limited Wendell Clarke has disclosed that poultry producers will be passing on increased production costs in just a matter of days.

This includes the recent price hike from the local feed manufacturer.

Meantime, the largest local poultry distributor, Chickmont Foods, also confirms that prices will have to go up due to rising costs.

Chickmont’s Managing Director, Edward Albecker, says that not just the war in Ukraine but also the fallout from the covid-19 pandemic is taking a toll.
