Four candidates are in the running as members of the Democratic Labour party vote in about two weeks to elect a new President.
Starcom Network News understands nominations close today and the party hierarchy meets tonight.
The four candidates so far are said to be Law Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Ronnie Yearwood, Business Executive Ryan Walters, former MP and Government Minister Dr. David Estwick and Attorney at law Francis De Peiza, the brother of the former President Verla Depeiza.
Starcom Network News also understands that a survey has been conducted to ascertain views of the public on the leadership of the party, and it shows that one of the four candidates has garnered significant support.
The DLP’s extraordinary conference which will facilitate the voting process is scheduled for May 1st at the party’s George street headquarters.
When contacted by Starcom Network News today, interim DLP President Steve Blackett declined any comment on the matter stressing that he did not want to prejudice the process..
