If the Barbados Light and Power Company gets its way its customers could immediately be hit with rate increases ranging from five to 20 per cent.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Trading Commission, Marsha Atherly-Ikechi tells Starcom Network News that while a formal hearing into the company’s application for a rate increase will likely be held in January next year, the company has also applied for immediate relief, meaning an interim increase pending a final decision.
That request or an interim hike is now being reviewed.
