Government hints at relaxing the covid-19 restrictions

Government has indicated there could be a further relaxation of the covid-19 restrictions as it looks to a tourism rebound to help revive a struggling economy.

Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn made the disclosure as he wrapped up debate in the House of assembly on the Debt Settlement Arrears Bill.

Meantime, amidst opposition calls for a budget statement government will next week deliver in parliament a mid-year fiscal and economic review.

Mr. Straughn warns that the covid-19 pandemic has public sector finances under severe pressure with revenues down and expenditure up.

This has also forced government to significantly rework its plan for repaying creditors.
