The National Cultural Foundation has commenced payments to Kadooment Band leaders as compensation for the cancellation of the Crop Over Festival for a second straight year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s office with responsibility for Culture John King confirmed that the payments are being made and said he’s very pleased about this.

President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders and Band Leaders, Anthony Layne, tells Starcom Network News he was also notified that the payments had commenced.

Mr. Layne emphasized how important it is for his members to get the financial help having lost two years of Crop Over business.
