The Democratic Labour Party is demanding the government explain the financial irregularities in the auditor general’s report, as the minister handling that portfolio insists most of those issues occurred under the former DLP government.
Minister in the ministry of finance Ryan Straughn, speaking on VOB’s Brass Tacks call-in program also promised action, through a new internal audit unit to tackle financial irregularities in the public sector.
The plan was outlined as the auditor general’s report remains a hot topic of debate in the country as articulated by this caller.
DLP President Verla Depeiza joined those demanding an explanation.
The report covers the period 2007 to 2019 and Mr. Straughn says many of the issues raises occurred before the current administration came into office.
He gave the assurance efforts or to discover and stamp out bad financial practices.
