Twenty-nine arrests made for curfew breach

A group of twenty-nine people held by police at a bar in the city last night is due to appear in court this morning charged with breach of curfew.
Starcom Network News understands this follows a police raid late last night on the entertainment spot located at Crumpton Street, Bridgetown.
The raid on the entertainment spot occurred after police learned that a number of men and women were gathering at the bar, located not far from police headquarters, for an event.
Those charged are twenty-two males including the two owners of the club and seven females.
This morning they were being processed at Central Police Station in relation to the charge of Breach of curfew.
They are expected to appear in the District A Magistrates’ Court.
Government recently announced an easing of some of the COVID-19 restrictions but Prime Minister Mia Mottley stressed that an 8 pm to 5 am curfew remains in effect as part of continuing efforts to contain the spread of the virus which she emphasized could be with us for quite a while.
