PAC Chairman warns charges possible

Amidst concern over the latest auditor general’s report, the Chairman of parliament’s public accounts is pushing to have any suspected corruption or mis-use of public funds forwarded to the director of public prosecutions for possible charges.

Opposition leader Bishop Joseph Atherley was speaking to Starcom Network News following the resumption of committee hearings after a break due to the covid pandemic.

The committee is currently focusing on the Transport Board but Bishop Atherley promises attention will focus next on  matters that have occurred at the Barbados Water Authority.

The auditor general played a prominent role in last week’s session reviewing matters at the Transport Board and Bishop Atherley proposes that the public accounts committee collaborate its inquiries much more closely with the auditor general’s office with a view to holding any guilty parties accountable.

Bishop Atherley feels strongly that any wrong doing has to be sternly dealt with and charges brought where appropriate.
