The Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) is appealing to government to delay the implementation of the increase in the national minimum wage until next year.
Speaking at a news conference Chairman of the BPSA, Edward Clarke, said the sector is simply not ready to handle the increase, given the economic fallout from the covid-19 pandemic . He is of the view businesses need more time to recover.
He also underscored the need for key decisions to be discussed at the social partnership level such as the national minimum wage.
