Barbados Nurses Association sees need to have regional exam

The Barbados Nurses Association is strongly disagreeing with the suggestion by opposition Senator Caswell Franklyn that the requirement for local nurses to take the regional exam be scrapped.

Speaking in the Senate recently Senator Franklyn blamed the high failure of Barbadian candidates, said to be as high as 40%, on what he claims is the lack of a syllabus for the test.

He reiterated his position speaking to Starcom Network News this morning.

But President of the Nurses Association Joannah Waterman strongly disagrees.

Ms. Waterman says there’s been a probe into problems within the nursing program at the Barbados Community College and the issues are being addressed.
