A Christ Church man shot at a bar in Long Gap, St. Philip has been identified as 47 year-old Franz Walkes of St. Matthias. He was identified this afternoon by a family member.

The police say the shooting occurred about 12;30 a.m. at a bar called Byers Boozie Bites where people were attending an event when two gunmen entered and opened fire.

The man who was killed is reported to have dropped off some people for the event and was sitting in his car when the shooting erupted. Those people ran to the car and they attempted to drive off but the gunmen shot at them and killed the driver.

Other patrons were also shot at as they tried to flee the hail of bullets. A woman and a man were shot in the back, while another man was hit in the leg, the off-duty policeman was shot in his right in-step and a woman suffered a gunshot injury to her right index finger.

None of those injuries was considered life-threatening.
