Barbadians gathered in large numbers this morning at Kendall Hill, Christ Church, to participate in a powerful walk calling to end gun violence.
The event also served as an emotional show of solidarity with the family of 13-year-old Shawnathon Chase, who tragically lost his life last Tuesday evening in a senseless act of violence while watching a netball game at the Silver Hill hard courts.
Participants, many dressed in white, carried signs bearing the names of victims of gun violence, honoring their memories and calling for change.
The walk began opposite the Rubis gas station at Kendall Hill and made its way to the Silver Hill Hard court, where prayers and uplifting performances from the youth of the Praise Academy of Dance occurred.
The event highlighted the community’s growing concern over gun violence and its devastating impact on families and neighborhoods.
Shawnathon’s aunt, Ordeen Springer, thanked the many Barbadians for their show of support.
