Insurance rate hike

The Barbados insurance sector says it’s grappling with an increase in rates from re-insurance companies, which is driving up the costs for the consumers.

New President of the General Insurance Association of Barbados (GIAB), Andrea Walton tells Starcom Network News that an increase in rates is now unavoidable.

Mrs. Walton who was elected as the first female President of the GIAB, also serves as the Head of Property and Casualty at Island Heritage in Barbados.

She says consumers will be educated about the increase in rates.
