Ground broken for US$180M Afreximbank

Ground has been broken for the start of construction on the 180 million US dollar African Export Important headquarters complex and hotel at Jemmott’s Lane, St. Michael that bank President Professor Benedict Oramah says will create about a thousand jobs during the building phase.

He adds that there will also be 300 permanent jobs once the bank commences operations and stresses the importance of strong links between Africa and Caricom.

Professor Benedict Oramah said there will be a 12 storey, twin tower at the Bridgetown site along with a hotel, a digital trade gateway and a conference center.

He has also pledged millions in support of local initiatives relative to youth development and housing.

Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell joined Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley and her cabinet for the ground breaking.
