A 45 year old man has been electrocuted while apparently picking breadfruit at Advent Avenue, Bank Hall St. Michael.
The deceased has been identified as Andrew John of Manning Land, Bank Hall, St. Michael.
Police say that around 10:52 last night, the District A police received a report of a sparking powerline and a tree on fire at Advent Avenue. The officers contacted the Barbados Light and Power Company and the Barbados Fire Service.
Police say the motionless body of John was seen perched on a branch in a breadfruit tree. Fire officers lowered the body with assistance from Crane and Equipment company
A medical doctor examined John’s body and pronounced death at the scene.
The victim’s brother, Anton, said he was shaken by the incident.
The deceased’s mother, Mavis, said she was already in bed when the incident occurred. She said she last spoke with her son on Wednesday.
