Alleged attacker shot at LESC after road rage incident

Two people have been injured on the compound of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Center, with one of them being shot.

No students from the ROSS University or staff of the LESC were injured but reports indicate that two men got into an altercation on the premises around 8 am, and both were transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Police Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, said the shooting was done by a licensed firearm holder and the incident was a result of road rage.

Meantime, Dean Straker, the Chairman of Barbados Conference Services Limited, the state agency responsible for LESC, tells Starcom Network News there are significant measures in place for the security of the students and is currently being further strengthened.

Classes at the ROSS University have been cancelled for the day and the students and staff are receiving counselling.
