Barbadian soca artiste Rupee’s song, “Tempted to Touch” has now been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The Association of America honours music’s best through its Gold and Platinum Awards Programme for the past 60 years. When an artiste earns a Gold and Platinum certification, they join the ranks of an elite group of beloved musicians.
Rupee, whose real name is Rupert Clarke credited producer Darron Grant and told Starcom Network that while the track is 21 years old, he always felt it would have a legacy.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Labour Party spokesperson on culture, Alvin Toppin, congratulates Clarke.
Toppin said this outstanding accomplishment is a testament to Clarke’s exceptional musical talent and a significant contribution to Barbados’ cultural richness.
