Pine Hill Dairy expects to have an increased supply of local milk on the store shelves by the end of the month and that the overall production issue will be resolved by the end of March.
This has been disclosed by Pine Hill Dairy, spokesperson, Lisa Ridley-Paul, the People, Legal and Corporate Affairs Manager at Banks Holding Limited.
She issued a statement on the matter after it was revealed that some retailers are having to ration milk due to the persisting shortage.
Mrs. Ridley-Paul also disclosed that they have resolved the issue with supply of imported milk powder which is used to manufacture evaporated milk.
The Minister of Agriculture and the Barbados Agricultural Society have previously explained that the issue stemmed from global supply challenges with milk powder which is used to manufacture evaporated milk, while it’s been taking time to ramp up production from the almost two hundred cows imported to boost fresh milk supply.
Retailer Aldo Ho Kong King tells Starcom Network News the current shortage is forcing his business to limit the number of containers of milk each customer can buy.
He says it appears some customers are trying to hoard milk forcing his business to impose restrictions.

Chief Executive Officer at the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul, urges patience, insisting that there’s no milk crisis but rather a misunderstanding of the process involved in replenishing the supply.
