Former national footballer, coach and commentator, Keith “Grell” Griffith has died.
Starcom Network News understands that Griffith passed away early this morning.
In addition to his feats for Barbados on the soccer field, Griffith had a stint as technical director of the US Virgin Islands national soccer team.
Griffith also coached Trinidad and Tobago’s Joe Public F.C., and served as technical director for the Cayman Islands team.
He also played road tennis and cricket competitively.
Griffith has been a prolific commentator around the world and on occasion for the Voice of Barbados.
His last assignment was in the recent Prime Minister’s Cup on November 30, 2024, where he commentated at Kensington Oval and stated: “I started my career here and want to end it here, as this will be my final commentary on live football.”
Griffith was 80 years old and is survived by three sons.
