Two die in car crash

Two people have been killed in a car crash in St. James in the early hours of this morning.

A statement from the Barbados Police Service says that officers from the Holetown Police Station responded to the scene of a road traffic collision along Bennett’s Road which was reported about 1:50 am today.

The collision involved one motor car which had at least four occupants.

The vehicle was traveling along Bennett’s Road towards Highway One when it struck a utility pole head on, resulting in two of its occupants dying at the scene.

The deceased are both males – one of them 37 years old and the other 41.

Meanwhile, two other occupants – a 24 year old male and a female in her 20s – have both gone off to hospital via ambulance for medical treatment.

The female suffered serious head injuries and other injuries about her body, while the male had several cuts and abrasions.

The roadway has been cordoned off as investigations continue.
