New renewable energy plan for Barbados

The Barbados government has signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Program for a project to generate renewable energy from waste.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Business Kevin Hunte and UNDP resident representative Limya Eltayeb initialed the agreement for the project that’s to be implemented over the next four years.

Ms Eltayeb explained what the project entails.

She hailed this country’s efforts in energy transition and noted that the project forms part of a global energy plan.

Meantime, Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins, stressed the need for diverse sources of renewable energy.
