An official of the Ministry of Energy and Business suggests the need for tighter regulations on the importation of used electric vehicles as she notes such vehicles have been involved in a number of fires.
Destine Gay, Senior Technical Officer at the Ministry of Energy and Business, believes that the vehicles coming into the country should meet specific requirements before they are put on the market.
She was speaking during a panel discussion at the Barbados Sustainable Energy Youth Forum at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre this morning.
Ms. Gay believes some of the vehicles imported into Barbados may be too old.
