Gov’t condemns “malicious” flyer about We Gathering

Government has condemned what it says is misinformation being spread about the We Gathering series of events planned for next year.

Special Advisor on Culture and Cultural Heritage in the Division of Culture in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator John King describes as mischief posters being circulated on social media purporting to represent schedules and themes for the events.

Senator King says in a statement that he’s disappointed that as government seeks to relaunch a program designed to strengthen communities and bring Barbadians at home and in the diaspora closer together for mutual benefits that someone would seek to derail these efforts by creating and posting false information in the form of flyers.

Senator King adds that while there will always be differences of ideas, opinions, and beliefs, this development, which he describes as “a malicious act,” must be condemned by all right-minded Barbadians. He says he hopes that those responsible see the error of their ways and use their talents in a more productive way to assist in the promotion and execution of the We Gathering initiative.
