Weir wins major libel suit

Government Minister, Indar Weir, businessman Ricky Narine and his company Tarico have been collectively awarded more than than 400 thousand dollars in damages after winning a defamation suit against former MP Anthony Wood and the two local newspapers, the Nation and Barbados Today for salacious allegations that were published.

Attorney at Law Zahidha James, who, in collaboration with Philip McWatt represented Mr. Weir, says it should be a lesson to media houses to ensure that the stories they carry can be substantiated.
