Police in Antigua have made a major breakthrough in their investigations into the murder of prominent politician Asot Michael.
They have arrested and charged 26-year-old Alextra Francis of Golden Grove for the crime.
Michael, a former MP for St. Peter was found unresponsive with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds on his body at his home on November 5th.
Francis who is believed to have confessed to the crime, was taken into custody late Friday evening and is assisting police with their investigations.
He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda’s Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney thanked the public for their cooperation throughout the investigation and commended his officers for their diligence and professionalism in the matter
