Former Member of Parliament for Christ Church West, former Attorney-General and Minister of External Affairs and former Leader of the Barbados Labour Party and Opposition Leader, Sir Henry Forde has died at the age of 91.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley in her tribute describes Sir Henry’s passing as truly a sad day saying she had lost a dear friend, a mentor, legal advisor and tutor.
Miss Mottley adds that Barbados has lost a genuine stalwart, an exceptional legal scholar and one of politics’ finest gentlemen in the Caribbean.
She stated that, as is the custom for Barbadians who have served as Members of Parliament, Sir Henry will be accorded an official funeral, the details of which will be announced after consultations with his family.
Miss Mottley extended condolences to Sir Henry’s widow Cheryl Lady Forde and his three children Nicholas, Martin and Ryan.
