Minister of Energy and Business Development, Senator Lisa Cummins, insists that there is no intention of removing the right of ordinary citizens to challenge electricity rate requests.

Senator Cummings was speaking as she tabled in the Senate the Electricity Supply Bill.

Senator Cummings says the bill paves the way for Barbados to overcome the technical and regulatory constraints to transitioning the electricity grid to 100 percent renewable energy generation.

Meantime, Opposition Senator Ryan Walters, wants the switch to renewable energy focussed on reducing the high energy costs in Barbados.
