Police Commissioner briefs nation tomorrow on mass shooting/QEH calls in additional staff to treat victims

Two of the victims of the early morning shooting at Nelson Street remain hospitalized as the police continue to try to identify the three people who were shot dead at the Majestic Bar just before 2 am.

Three people were killed on the spot when three masked gunmen opened fire on patrons.

The injured were rushed to the hospital.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital had to call in additional staff to help cope with the medical workload as a result of the mass shooting.

QEH sources tell Starcom Network News that eight of the Nelson Street gunshot victims were transported to its Accident and Emergency Department

Two of the victims underwent surgery while six were treated and discharged.

The QEH sources note that the priority given to the incoming casualties meant that other A&E patients had to wait longer for treatment.

The situation at the A&E is believed to have subsequently returned to normal.

Meantime, police Commissioner Richard Boyce is due to hold a news conference tomorrow morning to brief the nation on what a police statement calls “the criminal activity”.
